During this visit, you’ll have the opportunity speak with Dr. Troyan and the team about any concerns or questions you may have about the dental implant process. You’ll receive a full examination of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Together with Dr. Troyan, you’ll decide which dental implant solution will best fit your needs.
Your Personalized Treatment Plan
With the information gathered during your initial consultation, Dr. Troyan will develop your treatment plan. The treatment process may include the following steps, depending on your personalized plan:
- Supplemental Treatments – Your treatment plan may include some supplemental procedures to help prepare your mouth for dental implants. This may include gum disease treatment, bone grafting, or other treatments performed before implant placement and designed to improve your outcome.
- Dental Implant Placement – Once any necessary supplemental treatments have been completed, you’ll have your implant fixtures placed. In some cases, your replacement tooth or set of teeth can be placed the same day as your implant fixtures. For other patients, an additional healing period may serve them better.
- Healing Process – Whether you have one implant placed or many, the healing process is extremely important for their success. During this time the process of osseointegration takes place, in which the jawbone fuses with the implant fixture, forming a strong foundation for your restoration.
- Tooth Restoration – If your restoration was not placed during your implant placement visit, you’ll have it placed once healing has been completed. Your restoration can be a single crown, multi-tooth bridge, or full arch denture, depending on your needs.

First, a small titanium fixture is attached directly into the jawbone. Next, a middle piece called an abutment is attached and the doctor begins carefully crafting your replacement tooth. And finally, the crown (or artificial tooth) is placed on the abutment.
The result is a tight-fitting, stable, and natural-looking replacement tooth that allows you to speak and eat with confidence.
How do I know if I need bone grafting?
Good bone density in the jaw area is necessary to support a dental implant.
If you don’t have solid bone density in the appropriate areas, a supplemental procedure like bone grafting may be required.
During this relatively simple procedure, bone tissue is added to the jaw to create the proper density and volume required for a dental implant.
